"Brandon not only plays his guitar but he plays his audience like a ringmaster in his own circus, always looking for new ways to entertain." - Teresa Mallam, Free Press.

This guy lives and breathes the blues. Brandon Isaak is an authentic, heart felt roots and blues songster who always delivers the goods.

Brandon is an award winning musician with a passion and a thirst for the history of music and origins of the blues, and it shows in his live shows. He is an entertainer as well as a gifted musician. “Entertaining an audience and making a connection with them is as important as great music and lyrics”. So many artists today just sit and play and don’t connect with their audiences.

Brandon's affinity for the rawness and spontaneity of the blues is second to none, as anyone who has had the privilege of being a part of his audience will tell you. He brings a firebrand style of guitar as well as incredibly stirring vocals that truly has to be witnessed to be appreciated! He is VERY much in the moment as he rips it up, and we know you'll be impressed with the caliber of showmanship within his performance of songs & stories by this great Canadian artist.

He was born in Whitehorse,Yukon to a family who has always been in the music business. His folks owed a couple of blues clubs. His father, Ed Isaak, is a full-time musician and has been his whole life. Young Isaak grew up in a bluesy, artistic and musical atmosphere which shaped his identity and future profession. He backed up many blues masters who would take up a three week residency in his family’s clubs. This is where he learned his chops and cut his teeth and begun the journey to the gritty, soulful player he is today.

Brandon's new album One Step Closer features some of the finest roots and blues musicians in the country like David Vest, Al Pease, Darryl Havers, Don Cox and more. The new album is an eclectic mix across the blues landscape from 1930’s New Orleans to 1950s early Chicago blues. “It was such an honour to sit down and record these original songs with these veteran masters of their craft and it was a real learning experience to say the least. I’m very proud of this collection of tunes and it’s another chapter of my life that I can look back on with pride and accomplishment.”

With 11 perfectly crafted songs, incredible guitar playing and smoky vocals, Btandon has once again produced an incredible and accessible album for blues fans of all sub-genres. Now he is getting ready for a busy year of touring and promoting his newest album. Catch him on the very release date at the Rogue!  Brandon will be singing and playing guitar, lap steel & harmonica, and he'll be joined by Mike Kalanj on keyboards, Pat Darcus on upright bass and Chris Nordquist on drums.
