Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

Hi everyone

Glorious weather for a festival! Come and visit us in our booth at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival this weekend.

If anyone is looking for tickets - at a very reasonable price - one of our members has two extra weekend passes because her friends have had to cancel at the last minute. Call Donna and Charles on 604-224-7203.

We had a great time at Island Musicfest last week. Highlights included John Hiatt's set, South Africa's wonderful singer Vusi Mahlesela, Colorado's Elephant Revival, and the guitar heroes: Albert Lee, James Burton, Amos Garrett & David Wilcox. The brilliant and versatile English guitarist / singer Dave Kelly has played with the likes of Howlin' Wolf and is a member of The Blues Band. He now tours with Christine Collister as well. Watch for him at The Rogue in future months.

Martha Redbone Roots Project, and Blind Boy Paxton were also in great form. Along with the aforementioned Elephant Revival they will be at Jericho Park this weekend. Don't miss them!!

Other picks I'd like to recommend - many of whom you may never have heard before - include:

  • Hazmat Modine,
  • Black Prairie,
  • The Brothers Comatose,
  • Hurray For The Riff Raff,
  • Tinpan Orange,
  • Lena Andersson,
  • Phildel,
  • Hanggai,
  • DeVotchKa,
  • Loudon Wainwright III,
  • and Jeffery Broussard.

I'll be co-hosting The Edge On Folk with Linda Bull, LIVE from the vicinity of Stage 3 on Saturday from 8am to noon. We will have plenty of festival guests, including the wonderful Danish band Habadekuk at 9am. If you can't make it to the festival, tune in on CiTR fm 101.9 and www.citr.ca

Here's a sneak preview of the shows we have lined up for the Fall (download the PDF from the Concert Posters page - ed). Tickets will go on sale in the next week or two. This roster is Subject To Change; Many of these shows are marked "t.b.c." (To Be Confirmed.) We are hoping they will all happen - and on the specified dates! Please visit our website for the latest news (and watch for some major updates on the site in the next few days ...)

Have a great weekend!
