1. L J Mounteney's All Star Blues Band, Friday May 12th, 8pm, Mel Lehan Hall at St. James (3214 West 10th Avenue)

High energy, versatile Vancouver singer LJ Mounteney rocked The Rogue's 36th Anniversary show last week at the Get Back - Unplugged show. What a great night that was!

Now she brings another eclectic mix of music and musicians to the Rogue to celebrate the release of her exciting new 13 song blues and roots album Mama Danced!  This evening will feature originals and covers from the album as well as well loved roots and blues gems and features an all-star cast of Vancouver musicians and singers in the band: Jerry Cook (sax), Geeta Das (trumpet), Cole Tinney (keyboards), Jon Roper (guitar), Linda Kidder (bass / vocals), and Allen Dionne (drums).

Tickets are available here up to 3pm today, and at the door after 7pm. Watch-At-Home tickets are also available right up to show time.

We advise you to arrive early, as L J is expecting a lot of ardent fans and family members to join the fun. Oh, and bring your dancing shoes! We will leave some space for dancing and swaying and grooving!

2. The Rogue's 50/50 Draw

We are into the final week of our 50/50 Raffle. Don't miss out!

You have until May 18th to have a chance to win a lot of cash! As much as $10,000 is possible! Tickets are on sale at this evening's LJ MOunteney show, and also online.

We really need your support and you can buy tickets in bundles:

3 for $5,
20 for $10,
50 for $20,
or even 100 tickets for $30

You can buy as many tickets as you like!

So far the total sales have been a bit disappointing, with the jackpot just over $4,500. So come on, you Rogues! Please help us out and remember, if you want to win, then first you have to buy a ticket. The more the merrier. And the more you buy the better the chances of The Rogue sticking around to bring you the best music on the planet. We have a 36 year record to maintain ...

New releases include: American roots and blues diva Eilen Jewell, Colorado jam band Leftover Salmon, the wonderful Natalie Merchant, veteran English folk singer Shirley Collins, US Bluegrass band Special ConsensusDaimh's new CD Sula, Scots harpist Rachel Hair, Montreal bluesman Michael Jerome Browne, Celtic supergroup Imar, Canadian legend Bruce Cockburn, and Danish combos Vesselil and Hialosa

Plus some more of my personal faves from 38 years of presenting this radio show on CiTR, including a feature on the amazing Irish singer / fiddler / guitarist Clare Sands!

I hope you will tune me in and turn me on this - and every - Saturday from 8 to noon on www.citr.ca
