Keep in Touch

There are two ways you can receive these updates automatically:

1. Van Django, Sunday December 18th, 8pm, St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue)

There is snow in the forecast and we have a Sold Out show on Sunday. We are hoping the roads will be clear and that everyone can make it safely to - and from - the show. It will be an amazing night!

Van Django released Cool Yule last year - a unique approach to seasonal music that's brilliantly played and wonderfully sung. Such a great gypsy jazz band! And with the wonderful LJ Mounteney on vocals, and harmonica wizard Keith Bennett also chipping in it will be a very musical occasion - and very seasonal - with a tree and some incredible Christmas sweaters on display!

If you already have a ticket, get there early. If you don't, you might want to to take a chance on a cancellation or two - but I wouldn't advise travelling far on the off-chance there might be a ticket for you.

Hope to see you there!
2. Rogue Calendars

We'll have these on sale at Sunday's show. If you can't make it there, we'll have them at our Granville Island office next week. Call us on 604-732-1305 for office hours - or just to make sure we're there! We'll give you directions.
3. Canadian Folk Music Awards

I was given the 2016 Unsung Hero Award by Derrick Ross of the Slaight Family Music Foundation - sponsors of the award - at the CFMAs in Toronto the other week. What a great honour!

Margaret & I were joined by Rogue President Dan Bowditch and we attended two brilliant showcase concerts at the famed Hugh's Room on Dundas Street before heading to the lovely Isabel Bader Theatre on the University of Toronto campus for the awards ceremony. Some 19 awards were given out that night, celebrating the likes of recent Rogue performers David Francey (who won two awards), Jadea Kelly, and Yann Falquet & Pascal Gemme. There were performances by Bruce Cockburn, Colin Linden, The Ennis Sisters, Red Moon Road, James Keelaghan, and more.

I cannot believe the fantastic ovation I received when Dan called me up to receive my award. It was such a special moment!
4. Audience Surveys
Please fill out an Audience Survey at Sunday's concert - or next Tuesday's Roguelele Night.

Or fill out this online survey. It only takes a few minutes and it helps us a lot. Thanks!!

Everyone who completes the survey and gives us their email address will go into a draw for tickets to any 2017 show!

The deadline is December 31st.

Thank you for your support.

5. Rogue Memberships
You may have received a membership reminder in the past few days. We really need your continued support in order to be able to keep bringing you the best music around. So please keep your membership up to date. You can renew online or at a show.
6. Radio Waves
On today's Saturday Edge On Folk I'll have a full four hours with some tasty new releases by the likes of African kora player Dawda Jobarteh, Argentine gypsy jazz guitarist Gonzalo Bergara, The Revelers, David Bromberg, Rory Block, Michael Jerome Browne. Chicken Like Birds, Gillian Welch, Jeffrey Foucault, Carrie Newcomer, Shirley Collins, Cassie & Maggie, Sarah Jarosz and even The Rolling Stones! Plus the new album by Stephen Fearing, some Wake The Dead, a couple of seasonal songs, a bit of Cool Yule, and music from the latest samplers from the UK's brilliant magazine, fRoots.

I hope you can join me from 8am to noon, Saturday (eek! That's less than 8 hours from now!) on CiTR fm 101.9 and www.citr.ca

Radio Rogue has a newly updated playlist of over 1,500 songs including plenty of unusual Seasonal fare. You can hear us any day of the week - any time at all, in fact!

Below is our latest concert calendar flyer. 2017 looks like being another exciting year at The Rogue!
